I became licensed to sell real estate in April of 1999, my last season in the golf profession. In December of 1999 I began selling real estate full time and have been a perennial Top Producer ever since. My full-time commitment to real estate make me readily available as well as continually abreast of the vast changes in law, marketing and business practices occurring in the profession today. In my quest to be better prepared to serve my clients, I became a Broker and then gained the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation. The GRI designation represents 90 hours of continuing education, is nationally recognized and attained by less than 20% of all real estate professionals. Since then I’ve obtained the Sellers Representative Specialist (SRS), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES), the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designations and was awarded the GREEN designation by the National Association of REALTORS®.
In 2001 the Ulster County Board of REALTORS® asked me to Chair a committee which organized a golf tournament to raise funds for local charities. The golf tournament I chaired for several years raised thousands of dollars for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International®, an organization I was proud to be associated with. I also served on the Public Relations Committee for several years.
In 2006 I was honored as “REALTOR® Associate of the Year” by the Ulster County Board of Realtors® for my full-time commitment to Clients and Customers as well as my dedication to the Ulster County Board of Realtors® and contributions to the community through my committee participation.
In 2007 I was elected President-Elect for the Ulster County Board of Realtors® and traveled to many parts of the country over the next couple of years participating in Board related leadership meetings and informational seminars to best equip the local board with the latest knowledge and changes occurring in the Realtor® community. As 2008 President of the Ulster County Board of Realtors® I was determined to keep my belief in the highest of ethics and standards in the forefront.
2007 also began my participation in New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) Committees. In 2010 I was asked by incoming NYSAR President-Elect Susan Goldy to be 2012 Chair for NYSAR’s Organizational Planning Committee and accepted. I served as Organizational Planning’s 2011 Vice-Chair & 2012 Chair. Other NYSAR Committee participation included being a member of the 2012 Executive Committee and NYSAR’s Board of Directors (2007-2009, 2012). Currently I serve on Professional Standards (2008-2018,2023) and as an Appointed Member of Professional Standards Steering (my second 3-year appointment).
Aside from my volunteer commitments in the real estate community I’m an appointed member of the Town of Olive Planning Board serving from 2007-2019, leaving as Co-Chair, and agreeing to return in 2023. I also serve on the Town of Olive’s Zoning Committee.
I grew up in the Hudson Valley, in the small Hudson River Town of Athens and currently reside in the Hamlet of Olivebridge in the Town of Olive with my wife, Peggy (also a Real Estate Broker) and our daughter. I attended SUNY-New Paltz, College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC and SUNY-Albany.
